Green smoothie

Kale, spinach and silverbeet pack a punch of goodness.

Ingredients

Serves 2

1 big handful of kale, spinach or silverbeet (if using kale or silverbeet discard the tough stalks) (use greens that you have frozen in the freezer first if possible)
1 frozen banana (or ½ avocado)
1 kiwifruit (or ½ apple)
1C cold water, coconut water, almond milk, or soy milk
½C ice (optional - use if you aren’t using any frozen greens or fruits).

Method

Blend greens and liquids until smooth.
Add ice (if using) and fruits and blend again.

 

A smoothie works best if the fruits and veges are frozen. Then you can omit the ice. Add ½ c ice if you are using all fresh ingredients.

You can substitute the fruits for ½C frozen mango pieces, 1/2C fresh or tinned pineapple, ½ an orange, or pear.
