Teacher's Professional Development Day
24 November 2023
40 teachers and food and health professionals from throughout New Zealand attended the Heart Foundation and Vegetables.co.nz’s Professional Development Day in Christchurch on 10 November.
The packed programme included a visit to the Wattie’s factory to see how peas are harvested and shelled; thought-inspiring presentations from Sarah Pritchett, Sector Programme Manager at Love Food Hate Waste and Carolyn Lister, Principal Scientist and Science Team Leader of Food & Health Information at Plant & Food Research; and a hands-on masterclass with Jen Pomeroy of The Modern Mess. Here’s what the teachers had to say:
“Loved it all. A bit of everything! Best PD ever. A lot more in the future, I hope.”
“The whole day was engaging and relevant to teaching.”
Understanding the importance and the benefits of eating New Zealand-grown vegetables and learning how to prepare and serve them in inspiring ways is at the heart of the Food Skills for Life Programme. Check it out here.
