Food Skills for Life - new lesson plan

16 October 2024

Our Add One More Vegetable initiative continues to grow, and we’re thrilled to launch a new classroom lesson plan as part of the Food Skills for Life programme.

This lesson encourages students to boost their daily vegetable intake in fun and creative ways. Through both theory and hands-on activities, students will explore the health benefits of vegetables, learn to cook with the seasons, and design their own poke bowl. Along with the informative video, the lesson plan includes engaging activities and easy recipes to incorporate into any classroom. Suitable for all year levels, the new lesson plan and full selection of resources can be accessed on our website under the 'Additional Lessons' section here.

Whether it's tossing extra veggies into rice or making a quick vegetable pickle, the challenge is simple: add one more vegetable to each day! We encourage students to take this challenge home and involve the whole whānau. They can roast vegetables for dinner and save extras for a breakfast frittata—just one of many fun ways to participate.
